After-School Program
Overview
Children spend less than 20 percent of their waking hours in school . . . what happens in the other 80 percent of their time is critical to their development.
And that's why the Rec continues its mission to provide quality, affordable programs. After-school programs are operated in partnership with the City Schools of Decatur with sites located in the Pre-K Center, all elementary schools and the middle school. The programs, established 20 years ago, are forever evolving to meet community needs.
Our programs offer:
- Small staff/child ratios (1:12 elementary and older) that permit close supervision and enhanced staff/child interaction.
- Partial registration that allow parents to choose two, three or four days of after-school care as an alternative to the regular five-day program.
- All day camps provide care for students on teacher workdays and selected holidays.
