The personnel administrator is responsible for the daily operations of the Personnel Office which includes recruitment and hiring, employee benefits administration, worker's compensation administration, employee training and development, retirement benefit administration, and unemployment administration. The personnel administrator supervises the personnel coordinator position.

The personnel coordinator is responsible for the recruitment and hiring of regular full-time and temporary/seasonal positions, and assists the personnel administrator with employee benefits, workers' compensation, and training.

Overview
The City of Decatur Personnel Office is part of the Administrative Services Division. The City of Decatur consistently seeks to recruit, hire and retain personnel who will represent the city's mission and core values. It is the responsibility of this division to continually assess, recommend and implement equitable and fair compensation and benefits for all employees and retirees. Currently the City of Decatur has 207 full-time positions, 102 part-time seasonal staff and 70 retirees.
