The City's Stormwater Utility has installed a weather-monitoring station at the Leveritt Public Works Building, 2635 Talley St. The station collects rainfall and other weather information from local storm events that is more accurate for Decatur's purposes than data gathered at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. The weather station records the local temperature, wind velocity, wind direction and rainfall amount in an electronic unit. The data is then downloaded and stored on a computer to track historical weather patterns and unusual weather events.
