Geographic Information System (GIS)

The Engineering Department is developing a Geographic Information System (GIS) that will facilitate quick inter-departmental access to property-specific information. The GIS system will consist of a graphic portion (base map of the City) and additional attribute information for each real estate parcel in the City. The attribute information will include data for floodplain, zoning, land use, property owner of record, detention facilities, etc. The input process will likely require a few years to complete, and will be followed by periodic updates.

The information about each parcel will be linked to the base map, "just a click away," and each City department will have access to the information.
