Decatur Garden Tour Celebrates 100th Anniversary of Oakhurst
The Decatur Garden Tour is Saturday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m.-
5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 26, noon-5 p.m. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of the original township of Oakhurst, many of the featured gardens are located in that area.
Tour stops include the Oakhurst Community Garden Project (OCGP), a national model for successful community gardens; the residential garden of Stephanie Van Parys, OCGP executive director; and the famed “garden rooms” of designer and author Ryan Gainey.
Other gardens on the tour feature creative design, historic elements, unexpected plant combinations and specimens, unique hardscaping and idyllic outdoor living spaces, serene water features and/or sustainable gardening techniques. Several gardens will be open Saturday evening to be enjoyed with wine and music.
Tickets are $20 in advance, online at www.decaturgardentour.com or at these Decatur retailers: Intown Ace Hardware, Smith Ace Hardware and The Seventeen Steps. Tickets are $25 the day of the tour and will be sold at the Oakhurst Community Garden, 435 Oakview Rd., and at Ryan Gainey’s garden, 129 Emerson Ave.

About the Decatur Focus
The Decatur Focus is the official newsletter of the City of Decatur. Supported by the City of Decatur, the Decatur Business Association and the Decatur Downtown Development Authority, the Focus is published 10 times per year and mailed to every household, business and professional license-holder in the City. January/February and July/August are combined issues.
The Decatur Focus is filled with announcements and information about the City of Decatur including City services, downtown development issues, school news, business news, and news about individual residents and neighborhood associations. The purpose of the newsletter is to promote the City and encourage the exchange of information among residents, business owners, and the school system.
Submissions are encouraged and should be submitted by the first of the month prior to the month of publication (i.e., information that appears in the January issue should be submitted by December 1).
